These were our guides in Morocco, Tramp Imperial Travel, highly recommended!
Page One... |
Very soon after landing,
we enter the Jemaa el-Fna, the center of the universe,
named for the severed
heads that used to be displayed here-(not that long ago!)
it is now full of
food, herbs, snake charmers, storytellers, chiropractors and even a dentist
who work outdoors(with a table displaying many teeth!), donkey carts, motorcycles,
dancers and musicians,
Berber women who grab you and henna your hands, and lot and lots of people
of every color.
We will return again and again.
Hamed (our guide) and Joe take off across the square...
Notice the varieties of clothes, languages on the signs...
and the Atlas mountains through the winter
haze behind the city, they go on for miles and miles and miles...
and after dark the magic expands, the smoke rises and there is plenty of and great food!
|
The Jemaa el-Fna is surrounded by the Medina, the old city, narrow streets not too easy to find your way around! |
The next day we visit the Majorelle gardens,
named after the French painter Jacques Majorelle,
it is a very quiet place, delightful! We
are introduced to our first of many cat-friends.
We end the day the palm oasis....
